Age Cymru Budget response

Commenting on Chancellor George Osbourne's Budget announcement this afternoon, Age Cymru's Director of Influencing and Programme Development Victoria Lloyd says:
"Age Cymru is pleased to note that the Chancellor is now bringing in the care costs cap and the higher upper means test threshold in England from April 2016.
"We're now keen to hear from the Welsh Government about the plans it has for helping people with the cost of social care, giving people in Wales the same levels of certainty over care costs as people will have in England.
"The future of social care is one of the most important issues facing the country.
"All too often the NHS and families are left to pick up the pieces when older people fail in their struggle to cope alone, which makes no moral or financial sense.
"Government must urgently address the spiralling crisis in social care by ensuring that every older person gets the help that they need when they need it."
