Residential care inquiry

The Health and Social Care Committee of the National Assembly for Wales has appointed Age Cymru and Crossroads Care Wales to set up an expert reference group for its inquiry into residential care for older people in Wales.
Our Head of Policy and Public Affairs Graeme Francis says:
"This is a fantastic opportunity for people who have experienced residential care to give their views and voice their opinions on this very important subject to this major inquiry.
"We've been tasked with making sure that the Committee hears the voices of people who are currently living in residential care, or who have had family members in residential care.
"The Committee also wants to hear from people who are volunteer or professional carers as well as individuals who are considering the possibility of themselves or a family member going into residential care the near future."
The reference group will comprise around ten individuals and will meet four or five times during the next stage of the inquiry which runs from March to July 2012.
Age Cymru and Crossroads Care Wales will also be going out to meet people who cannot travel, but want the Committee to hear their views, as part of this exercise.
Graeme Francis concludes:
"We would be delighted to speak to anyone who thinks they might be interested or has any suggestions for how we might identify potential participants.
