Charity unveils winter concert plans to support older people
"We can support older people during the difficult winter months" says Age Cymru
VULNERABLE older people will be supported this year thanks to a charity winter concert at the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama on 26 November.
Age Cymru, the national charity for older people, will be using all the proceeds from the concert to help isolated and lonely people this winter.
"With isolation and loneliness affecting thousands of older people during the winter months, we need to do all we can to support them," said host and retired ITV reporter Arfon Haines Davies.
"During my time as a TV presenter, I heard many horror stories about the impact of loneliness and isolation - feeling part of society is important to all of us, but especially amongst older people."
The musical evening, kindly supported by Western Power Distribution, is now entering its fourth year at the College.
The world famous Morriston Orpheus choir, eisteddfod winning musicians Charlie and Lizzie-Lovell Jones and Llanishen based Ysgol Y Wern school choir will be performing.
There will also be a winter market of stalls and exhibitions with an array of seasonal goods and information tips to help older people get through the cold winter months.
"Our winter concert is a very important part of our fundraising efforts so we can support older people during the difficult winter months." said Age Cymru's chief executive Ian Thomas.
"It also provides an ideal opportunity for older people, their families and their friends, to enjoy a wonderful evening of festive music at one of the most iconic venues in Wales - it is certainly one of the highlights in my calendar!"
You can buy tickets from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama's box office by calling 029 2039 1391 or by visiting www.rwcmd.ac.uk. Tickets cost between £10 - £15 (concessions available).
