Winter flu jab

Published on 22 January 2016 12:00 PM

With the cases of flu rising across Wales since New Year, I'd like to remind your readers that it's not too late to have your  annual winter flu jab.
Older people over 65 and people with health conditions such as diabetes; respiratory problems; heart or kidney disease are automatically eligible to have the flu vaccination for free.
The winter jab is the best protection we have against flu and it is important for people with existing conditions as they could find their illness is complicated or made worse if they catch the winter virus.
I'd also recommend that anyone who cares for an older or disabled person should have the vaccination to make sure that the people they are looking after are protected as well.
Please speak to your GP or practice nurse at the earliest opportunity to make an appointment for your winter flu vaccination which is available for free on the NHS for people who qualify.
