Age Cymru: Winter Fuel Payment Petition Hand in with Age UK

Age Cymru is proud to join Age UK in presenting an over 650,000 signature strong petition to No.10 Downing Street urging the UK Government to do more to help older people stay warm at home. Action is now needed to make sure older people in Wales are not left out in the cold.

Age Cymru have worked together with Age UK on the Save the Winter Fuel Payment for struggling pensioners petition calling for a halt to the changes to Winter Fuel Payments. In Wales almost 30,000 people have added their signature, highlighting the widespread concern for vulnerable older people who are struggling with soaring energy costs this winter.

Victoria Lloyd, Chief Executive at Age Cymru says: “We are proud to see such a strong show of support from the people of Wales, the almost 30,000 signatures are a clear message that older people need increased support. We need to see measures implemented now by UK Government to put money back in the pockets of older people who are going to struggle without this vital payment.”
